In the latest episode of "Special Session":
Mike Lee picks another fight with Senate Republicans over the SAVE America Act. Lee is threatening to blow up the Senate's August recess. Texas Sen. John Cornyn tore into Lee during a closed-door meeting, calling his effort "nothing more than self-aggrandizement."
Adams lost. The money didn't stop. Despite losing his primary election, Sen. Stuart Adams pulled in nearly $120,000 in campaign donations after he was defeated. Most of the money came from developers.
Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson drops a devastating subtweet. She resurfaced a five-year-old quote from Lee arguing against the exact kind of federal election control he's now pushing for.
Utah Rep. Burgess Owens is worried about a "socialist" takeover of Utah. Owens says the state is heading down the path toward socialism after conservative incumbents lost in the primary elections. It's the same socialism panic Utah Republicans have leaned on for years, and Owens still hasn't said what, specifically, he thinks is turning socialist here.
