Old message board posts from Nate Blouin exploded into the Democratic race in Utah's 1st Congressional District last week, and the fallout may be far from over.

The posts, reported by Punchbowl News, included mocking attacks on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, jokes about sexual assault, and a claim that Blouin had defecated in a church parking lot. They were written roughly 15 years ago.

The timing couldn't be worse. About 30% of voters in CD1 are Mormon women, and one political strategist says that group is "essentially gone" for Blouin. In a district where Democrats are already the third-largest voting bloc, he can't afford those losses.

And if he survives the primary? Expect the NRCC to weaponize these posts in a district that's heavily LDS.
