President Donald Trump’s endorsement looks to be giving Utah’s Prop. 4 repeal effort a much-needed jolt. The campaign logged its strongest single-day haul on Thursday with 2,729 verified signatures, the third straight day of growth and up more than 9% from the prior day. Senate District 29 is now just 22 signatures away from becoming the second qualified district.

Trump endorsed the Republican-led push to put a repeal of the state’s anti-gerrymandering law on November’s ballot, posting on Truth Social on Friday urging Utahns to “sign this initiative ASAP.”

Over the last three days, the campaign averaged 2,314 new verified signatures—just 6% shy of the pace needed to reach the statewide requirement of 140,748. In total, they’re at 64,379 verified signatures, or 45.7% of the statewide goal.

To qualify for November, organizers need to not only keep this pace but accelerate it.

Despite the uptick, even if they hit 140,748, they still face a geographic hurdle—collecting signatures equal to 8% of voters in 26 of Utah’s 29 Senate districts. At the current pace, they’re projected to fall 17 districts short.

Who’s signing the petitions? Mostly Republicans. Using voter data provided by L2, Utah Political Watch matched more than 85% of petition signers to the statewide voter file.

  • Two out of every three signers (67%) are registered Republicans.
  • Just under 20% are unaffiliated.
  • 7.5% are registered Democrats.
