# Day 21: Lawmaker's third try to require disclosure of foreign-funded travel

Rep. Candice Pierucci is once again reviving her bill to [require elected officeholders to disclose](https://le.utah.gov/~2025/bills/static/HB0460.html?ref=utahpolitics.news) if they take trips paid for by foreign governments.

In 2022, [Senate President Stuart Adams](https://www.ksl.com/article/50539444/utah-senate-president-stuart-adams-received-trip-to-world-cup-paid-for-by-qatar-government?ref=utahpolitics.news) and [former Attorney General Sean Reyes](https://www.fox13now.com/news/fox-13-investigates/qatari-government-pays-for-utah-attorney-general-trip-to-world-cup?ref=utahpolitics.news) traveled to the World Cup in Qatar, with travel and lodging for the event paid for by the Qatari government. While the trips weren’t illegal, but they were not required to disclose the travel under current Utah law.

This marks Pierucci's third attempt at passing such legislation. Her previous bills in [2023](https://le.utah.gov/~2023/bills/static/HB0366.html?ref=utahpolitics.news) and [2024](https://le.utah.gov/~2024/bills/static/HB0466.html?ref=utahpolitics.news) stalled in the House Rules Committee, never receiving a committee hearing.

The third time might be the charm.

- [HB472](https://le.utah.gov/~2025/bills/static/HB0472.html?ref=utahpolitics.news) establishes rules for assisted living facilities that are slated for closure. The facility must meet certain requirements and cannot accept new residents if it's scheduled to shut down.
